National Flute Association’s 2023 Newly Published Music Finalist in the Flute Choir Category
Spooklight was commissioned by Dr. Elizabeth Robinson and recorded on her debut album, “Aviary”. There is an eerie phenomenon that takes place outside of Joplin, Missouri called the spooklight. The spooklight is described as an orb of light that has movement and appears regularly at night. There are numerous legends associated with the spooklight. Some says it is the ghosts of Native American lovers in search of one another. Others say it is the spirit of a dead miner. There have been numerous explanations of the phenomenon, such as will-o-wisps, but a scientific investigation from 2014 concluded the source of the orb lights were from headlights and taillight of cars from an interstate nine miles away.
